The game of table soccer originated in Europe and was introduced to America in the 1960s.

In the 1970s, a company known as Tournament Soccer put table soccer on the map, with huge prize money tournaments and first class events. Since then, the US has rapidly become the host of the largest professional tournaments and home to the world’s greatest players. With soccer growing and youth soccer exploding in the United States, the timing is perfect for the sport of table soccer to break out, yet the frequency of tournaments, the quality of tournaments, the size of the purses, and the availability of quality foosball tables and parts at reasonable prices has diminished as competition in the marketplace has dried up. It is our mission at Warrior Table Soccer to change this. Welcome to the big leagues! To give you a little background, Warrior Table Soccer is an outgrowth of Warrior Custom Golf, a hugely successful custom golf club builder, based in Irvine, California, founded by professional fooser Brendan Flaherty. A young company of five years, Warrior Custom Golf has revolutionized the way custom golf clubs are sold, in response to a bad experience Brendan had while trying to purchase a new set of golf clubs. With so much room for improvement in the sport of table soccer, it was just a matter of time before Brendan’s love for the game influenced him to put his money where his mouth is and step up and make a difference in the future of table soccer and the foosball table industry.

Warrior research and development on the table soccer project has been secretly underway for some time now.

However, with so much international activity, Brendan decided to put Warrior’s resources to work immediately. First, Brendan and partner Shawn Mobasseri acquired two-time world champion and Hall of Fame player Johnny Lott. Lott, the author of The Complete Book Of Foosball, has arguably accomplished more in the sport of table soccer than any other individual in history. Next, Warrior set out to structure its entire program, not in the old school glass is the half-full approach, but with a fresh new approach, best described as the sky is the limit. In our first tour, Warrior will award a million dollars in cash and prizes— the largest debuting series to tournaments ever. Warrior’s tour will truly be worldwide, with events in Japan, France, Germany, Mexico, and South America, in addition to the US Tour. Not only that, the winners will be guaranteed all expenses paid to the Warrior World Championships, ensuring the first ever true world competition and crowning the first ever true world champions of foosball. Warrior intends to immediately tackle that dream

We’ve all had as foosers— to have our sport receive the credibility that can only come from televised coverage. To accomplish this, Warrior will fund a special kickoff event to be filmed by a professional film crew in a realistic documentary style, just as if ESPN themselves had shown up. Then, Brendan will use Warrior’s resources and connections to see that the tournament is aired. In regards to tournament events, many players today have come to expect nothing more than a space filled with tables. It feels more like work than pleasure to play in tournaments, and if you don’t place in the top spots, you’re lucky if you break even and earn back your expenses. Warrior intends to break the mold and rethink all of this. Rock concerts with big-name bands, player dinners, sufficient prize money, affordable entry fees, exciting ballroom décor, and special awards ceremonies are some of the things to expect in the future.

Warrior also intends to rewrite the book when it comes to marketing their table. “Build a quality product and sell it at a low price,” states Brendan, which has been his mantra and has contributed greatly to his success. “Volume, volume, volume,” he says, is his chorus, so expect much the same with the Warrior Table Soccer program. “I expect that there will be numerous job opportunities developing, which we would love to fill with qualified players whenever we can.”

One of the main goals of Warrior Table Soccer is to do everything possible to help get table soccer accepted into the Olympic Games. There are currently several Olympic movements, and according to Brendan, “As a company, we will do everything possible to support those who are doing all the hard groundwork to establish table soccer as a legitimate sport.” Warrior will also use its connections in the golf world to attract major sponsors to the sport of foosball. Warrior’s first major tournament in Las Vegas, which took place in November of 2004, attracted several major sponsors, including the NFL Coaches Association, which in turn has sparked interest with such greats as Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana to play in the golf Pro-Am. It’s just a matter of time before these sponsors start to take table soccer seriously.

You may be wondering, “What about the table?” Let’s just say that unlike other companies in the past, we have done everything possible to get player input and use that input to make the best table possible. Items not considered before, such as safety, are being addressed. Brendan is a family man with three small children, and in his words, “I refuse to ever sell even one table that might harm a child.” As a result, Warrior’s tables will all feature our innovative and patent pending Rod Protection System (RPS), which, according to Brendan, “Has not been that simple to develop, but will be well worth the satisfaction in the end.”

As was stated earlier, there are many things to be addressed as we work together to elevate our sport to the heights it deserves. To quote a famous tournament soccer slogan, “Get down, get ready, and win!” Only this time around, the big leaguers will be playing and winning with Warrior Table Soccer.
